Late Shri. Mahesh Khandelwal was an influential leader in the Iron & Steel industry, leaving an everlasting imprint on the tube and pipe sector. Not only did he spearhead innovative steel plant developments, but his philanthropic pursuits in education and social welfare remain inspirations for many. His steadfast commitment to India's global positioning and the palpable legacy he left behind continue to shape our journey forward.
Born on December 22nd 1952, in the heart of the country, Gwalior, Late Shri. Mahesh Khandelwal stepped into the Iron & Steel Industry with his own trading firm in 1981 in Chennai.
From then on, his vision led him to become one of the largest players in the tube and pipe industry. Towards the beginning of the 2000s, he had his heart set on developing a steel plant that could constantly add value to the industry, he made sure all mills were built with avant-garde technology, and his workers were always well taken care of. His efforts, along with his keen business sense, propelled the company to grow fivefold. At the Ranipet Factory in Tamil Nadu, you can see the blueprints he created for the steel company he had envisioned and worked towards for many years.
But above all, he was known for his philanthropy and dream to educate India. Through various organisations, he supported education for the underprivileged, built schools to promote girls' education in remote villages and also contributed to making sheds for gaushalas.
Maheshji was consumed with the passion for playing a critical role in India’s Make-In-India campaign and making the country’s presence stronger on the global front. He laid the foundation of a galvanising plant, planned for bigger mills for ERW pipes, top-of-the-line roll forming and a very strong infrastructural base for exports. Sadly, not all of these materialised while he lived, but the seeds he laid, the work he did, and the force of will he displayed only push us harder in taking his inestimable legacy forward.
